On March 21, 2024, one might view campus as being less active as we are approaching the end of the week. However, on this Thursday evening, a multitude of incoming freshmen accepted as members of Jesuit’s Class of 2028 arrived in abundance on campus. At around 5 PM, students representing their respective clubs as well as ambassadors formed a tunnel to greet their guests and make them feel welcome at their 2nd home. Through this unique event, the incoming freshmen commence their experience of what it means to be Jesuit students.

After the incoming freshmen entered Walsh Gym, Principal Garrison addressed the Class of 2028 with a welcoming address. Listening to Principal Garrison’s sharing of wisdom, Mr. Marr said the following about the address:
“After welcoming the class to the Rally, what really resonated was Principal Garrison’s comments on community and building relationships. He emphasized that this event is the perfect moment to begin to make new friends. He encouraged all of the students to invite others to sit at the table and enjoy the games and competitions with some new faces. Additionally, he suggested they interact with our current students in attendance that night and take time to ask them questions.”
Following the address, the incoming freshmen enjoyed hot dogs and hamburgers for dinner in the cafeteria. During this time, numerous Jesuit students introduced themselves to their new brothers and conversed with them about the Jesuit experience. From clubs to friendships, the Jesuit students did everything they could to make their brothers feel energized.
“This class has a lot of positive energy and seems very outgoing. There are a wide variety of interests in this class, not to mention their academic performance is consistent and solid. I think this will be a well-balanced class that will make some major contributions to the Jesuit community.” – Mr. Marr
For the remainder of the evening, the Class of 2028 partook in various activities with each other and current Jesuit students. These activities ranged from playing chess and spike-ball to keeping up with March Madness. Following the event, I had the opportunity to interview some of the current Jesuit students about their experience in welcoming the Class of 2028.

Conclusion
Thanks to the preparation of numerous faculty and students, this year’s Ranger Rally has proven to be an astronomical success. The Class of 2028 has a bright future ahead, as they will soon join our Jesuit community. We look forward to the Class of 2028 on campus in August 2024.
