An Interview with Film Director Thaddeus Matula: A Lifetime in a Filmmaker

On Tuesday, February 13th, Jesuit alum Thaddeus Matula returned to his alma mater to share his journey through the film industry. From his formative years at Jesuit to discovering his passion during his time at SMU, Matula recounted the highs and lows of his evolving career. An Emmy and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker, Matula has earned acclaim for documentaries such as Pony Express and Into the Spotlight. He is currently involved in several projects, including The Revolutionary Daughter, a documentary exploring the life of Fidel Castro’s daughter. His presentation was organized into three segments: his life in filmmaking, a session for general questions, and an audience Q&A.
