Jesuit and Ursuline Band Performs the Music Recital

-

On April 17, 2023, Ursuline Dallas hosted the Jesuit Ursuline Music Recital at their novel Performance Arts building. Filled with various sounds, the one-hour recital included a range of music featuring piano, voice, and more.

Rachmaninoff’s Elegie as Sheet Music

Totaling nearly 40 students, participants mainly played music from the 19th century, like Jesuit Senior Theodore Nguyen, who played Chopin’s Ballade No. 1 and Rachmaninoff’s Elegie. Though the 300-year-old music ceased to be underrepresented, other band members, like Ursuline Senior Theresa Tran, effortlessly played Beethoven’s 3rd Movement of the Pathetique Sonata, a distinct C minor sonata that boasts an advanced difficulty.

“I felt amazing. I felt happy and honored to participate in the recital.” -Theo Nguyen ’23

In addition, members recall their satisfaction with their performance. Others recall the “glorious” aspect of the extraordinary music reverberating off the walls, creating a memorable musical experience.

“As a performer in the band, I enjoyed the recital. Simply listening to orchestra and the choirs sing was a true nourishment for the soul.” – Henry Casey ’24

“It was a great performance and a culmination of a year’s worth of work.” – Kyle Ma ’24
