Ranking The Top 6 Jesuit Food Spots

-

Jesuit is a brotherhood. We all know that, and we embrace that. One of the ways that we embrace this brotherhood is through food. Food is a great tool for uniting boys for anyone wondering.

There are many ways on campus that food unites us through Thomas cuisine, the Culinary Club, the BBQ Club, the Barista Bros, and more.

One thing however, that unites the Jesuit community through food more than anything is going to get food before or after school or an extracurricular. Jesuit is lucky to have so many good food options near our campus, but today I will be giving my rankings on the best ones.

*to be eligible a restaurant must be in the two main lots across from Jesuit on Inwood

*the ratings do not reflect the overall establishment, just for what a Jesuit student should look for

*these ratings do not reflect the entire Jesuit student body

#6: Starbucks

Food: 3/5

Price: 1/5

Walkability: 3/5

Community: 2/5

Service: 3/5

Average: 2.4/5

Starting at the bottom of the list is Starbucks. Obviously a great option before school or when in need of some desperate energy before an event. Besides that however, it is not very helpful. It is a decent distance from Jesuit, being walkable just slightly annoying. The food and drinks there are good quality, however they are just not very filling. The service is pretty good and for the most part they are always cheerful, just slow due to the amount of service they have to give. Many Jesuit students go there, however only through the drive thru, thus making it not a good place to go after school.

#5: Village Burger

Food: 4/5

Price: 2/5

Walkability: 2/5

Community: 2/5

Service: 3

Average: 2.6/5

The truest sit-down restaurant on the list, Village Burger offers something that no other restaurant can offer. However, the basis of Village Burger, burgers, is something that can be done for slightly quicker and much cheaper at Sonic, even though it may not taste as good. Because it is a true sit-down restaurant, many students are hesitant to go there because many need a quick food solution that takes fifteen minutes between events. Thus, it is hard to find many Jesuit students attending there.

#4: Sonic

Food: 4/5

Price: 3/5

Walkability: 5/5

Community: 2/5

Service: 1/5

Average: 2.8/5

We all know Sonic as the place we walk by to get to the Chick-Fil-A right next door, and honestly, for good reason. The food is good with a variety of options, but it takes so long to get it, even if you order on the mobile app. The employees are mostly nice, however it takes years to receive the food and often you are left behind from the kids who got the food before you did. The outdoor basis of the establishment can be a nice change of pace on pretty days but those days are few and far between in Texas and never seem to happen the day you decide the order Sonic. This makes it hard for many Jesuit students to choose this as their after school meal option unless it is after a football game.

#3: Rusty Tacos

Food: 4/5

Price: 4/5

Walkability: 1/5

Community: 4/5

Service: 3/5

Average: 3.2/5

The farthest walk on the list, Rusty Tacos and later Taco Joint provide the unique experience of being a sit-down or takeout restaurant based on your needs, and are relatively fast sit-down restaurants if you choose the option. Great food for a really solid price, Rusty Tacos provides a great choice for many Jesuit students with driving capabilities to choose. The walkability really is the only thing that hurts them.

#2: Taco Joint

Food: 5/5

Price: 5/5

Walkability: 2/5

Community: 4/5

Service: 5/5

Average: 4.2/5

Technically the second farthest walk on the list, although it is in the same lot as Village Burger and Starbucks, Taco Joint is 100% the best bank for your buck as far as food goes. Great food for an extremely low price, Taco Joint offers great options for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and you receive your meal very quickly. This makes Taco Joint a great spot for Jesuit students to go to after school.

#1: Chick-Fil-A

Food: 5/5

Price: 3/5

Walkability: 5/5

Community: 5/5

Service: 4/5

Average: 4.4

We all know it was going to happen, the classic option for any Jesuit student, Chick-Fil-A has the number one spot on my list. I personally have spent way too much of my own money to achieve Red Status on the app, which provides me with many rewards the lowly regular members cannot even begin to comprehend. The walkability is great. The food is tremendous. The price, well it’s aight. The employees and staff are incredible and they do a great job caring for the Jesuit students. The only knock on service is that is takes a smidge long to get food because of how many Jesuit students go and pack the Chick-Fil-A, which only adds to the community aspect. Overall, the best option on any given day for a Jesuit student.

Well that’s it! That is my definitive list for the best grub spots near Jesuit. Note, all the places are great options, just some I like more than others.
