The concept of living in a simulated reality is prevalent in science fiction and the film raises important questions about the nature of reality and our ability to control our destinies.

Are we living in a matrix?

You may argue that we live in a version of “the matrix,” apart from the noticeable difference between the Sci-Fi movie and our lives. Like the obvious that we cannot dodge bullets. But we can see examples of this in powerful governments and people not wanting everyday lifestyles to be changed. This is evident through propaganda, which controls people’s perspectives. The movie “The Matrix” is about escaping the typical lifestyle that our oppressors create.

In our matrix, we experience the ideals of the American dream. A suburban house, a spouse, multiple children, and the primary 9 to 5 job represent a predictable life. Politicians, CEOs, and influential leaders support this classic American dream. This system traps people in a cycle of norms that can be inescapable for some. But no one is genuinely trapped, and everyone can escape the norm, similar to “The Matrix.”
