Jesuit falls to Frisco Liberty by 3

-

On November 29th, Jesuit traveled up the Tollway to take on Frisco Liberty for their last non-district game. Unfortunately, Jesuit fell short on Tuesday night falling 77-80 but must have a short memory and clean some things up before the annual Knights of Columbus Tournament @ Jesuit just two days later.

“If we make free throws, we will win games easily.” –Hampton Aldridge ’23

Stats:

Big man Will Bronson ’24 displayed his ability to get to the line, and scored a team and game-high 22 points for the Rangers; Bronson also contributed and grabbed 8 rebounds, along with 3 blocks. Justin Kemp was on fire all night from downtown scoring 18 points off the bench and made a significant difference in this ball game offensively for the Rangers. Right behind him was Caleb Steger ’25, Steger scored 16 points shooting 50 percent from three and the field. And to cap it off, point guard Dylan Gibbons ’23 scored 9 points, dishing a team-high 7 assists. Jesuit did a very good job of getting the ball inside to Bronson and finding ways to score off cuts and relocating around the perimeter to find the best shot possible. Additionally, offensively, Jesuits found ways to get out and run in transition, leading to many open opportunities from three.

“Offensively I really liked what we had going, but giving up 80 points defensively makes it really hard to win games.” –Justin Kemp ’24

Summary:

Although Jesuit lost to a talented Liberty team in a close game, Jesuit managed to find their mojo with the number of paint points and ability to shoot from deep. Also, even though it was the most points defensively given up so far this season, Jesuit capitalized on offense throughout the game and is continuing to grow as a team. It was a back-and-forth game with the lead being changed back with each possession. Jesuit takes on Fort Worth South Hills in the opening round of the Knights of Columbus tournament on Thursday night at 7 P.M.
