Jesuit Hockey Falls to Frisco West

“Our offensive strength just has not been there through the first few games. We need to score.” – Kyle Hogan ’23 (Captain)

Jesuit Dallas’ Hockey team has had a rough couple of weeks coming off of an 8-0 loss against Keller and a 3-0 loss versus Frisco West.

Keller

Jesuit was outshot 37-6 in a tough regular season opener on September 22nd. Despite having three power plays on the night, Jesuit couldn’t seem to get the puck in the net. Keller scored 3 of its goals in the first period followed by 5 in the second period to cement a 8-0 victory.

“We need to get more shots on goal and get some points on the board.” – Ryan Virkar ’23 (Assistant Captain)

Frisco West

In last week’s September 29th game against Frisco West, Jesuit was outshot 38-14 but fought hard. They gave up just one goal in the first two periods before letting 2 more slip in the third. This gave Frisco West a 3-0 victory. Despite the loss, it was a more promising step forward in their second game of the season. Frisco West won the Division II State Championship last season, so the team came into this game knowing it would be a tough matchup.

Conclusion

Despite a rough couple of weeks to start the season, the Jesuit hockey team is hopeful about their upcoming games. Slow starts are nothing new for Jesuit hockey. Despite a similar start to the season last year, Jesuit made it to the quarterfinals at the 2022 USA Hockey National Tournament. As Jesuit hockey looks to emerge as Division I State Champions once again, they look to put these last couple games behind them and focus on the future. Jesuit will first look to correct their season’s trajectory this week as they face McKinney on October 6th.
