A Look at the First Roundup Article

-

The Roundup has officially passed 4000 published articles and videos on The Roundup website. For twelve years, The Roundup has been publishing articles and news stories. They have claimed many wards, including numerous journalism awards at the DMN Journalism Contest. Also, they have five straight first-class ratings on National Scholastic Press Association. It has had many alumni write for the website, and many have done great things. But in 2010, one article would become the first article on the website page and begin the 12 years of Roundup news.

The Article

On August 26, 2010, at 1:29 pm, the first article for the Roundup would be published by a senior named Andrew Bennett. The name of the article was “Close Encounters with the Past.” The article had no images nor a featured image, and there was no subheading to divide the article. The article was a story about the writers encountering alumni from the Jesuit first graduation class.

Bennet then reflects on the similarities and differences between his class and the class back then. He also talks about the legacy Jesuit students are creating around the world. The article is fascinating in exploring what Jesuit’s first class was like and is a very thoughtful piece of writing.

When reading it, I found it very different from many of the articles now on the Jesuit Roundup website. The article is a lot more personal than most now. The writing gives a personal story of a memorable moment in his life. It is fascinating to see the changes in how The Roundup writes articles now from then. It just goes to show the evolution of The Roundup over the years.

Conclusion

Since Andrew Bennett published the first Roundup article, the Roundup has grown in notoriety and expanded its platform. The Roundup has gained a youtube channel (Jesuit Roundup) and multiple social media accounts.  The future looks very bright for The Roundup, and more great content is sure to come in the following years.

Stay tuned to The Roundup for more great articles and videos!
