Jesuit has just announced a significant change to the 2020-21 school year. In an email sent to Jesuit students and parents, Jesuit indicated its plan to in-person learning on Thursday Oct 8 after going into the hybrid model past Labor Day.
“And while I am most grateful for our students, whose perseverance has enabled us to successfully manage a sophisticated, hybrid academic model through the first five weeks of school, we are moving forward with our goal of bringing all of our students safely back together on campus at the same time beginning Thursday, Oct. 8.”
While there have been instances of confirmed cases of COVID-19 within our student body, those cases have been traced to sources outside of our campus… Students will still have the option to make arrangements through the Student Affairs office to continue their education this year through eLearning but will otherwise be expected to be on campus… Please note that we will continue to treat Wednesdays as eLearning days, at least through the month of October.”
Jesuit also highlighted its plan for handling sports events, such as football games.
“I would also like to share our expectations for fan attendance at this year’s home football games. We regret that we will not be able to replicate the spirit of community regularly afforded by our version of Friday Night Lights, although an opportunity to purchase two tickets to each game will be provided to parents of participating students; this includes all players, band members, cheerleaders, Lone Rangers, Rangerettes, and color guard. In addition, we will honor all season-ticket purchases.
We wanted to provide our students with the opportunity to support their brothers and have also allotted 150 student tickets to juniors and seniors who purchased an athletic pass. All fans will be required to adhere to our spectator guidelines while on campus, which includes wearing a mask at all times and proper physical distancing in the stands and other parts of the stadium. These guidelines will be strictly enforced. For those unable to attend, every home game will be live streamed.”
