Freshman Basketball Wins Back to Back

-

Determination, time, and dedication are all qualities the Freshman Gold team continues to exhibit. With such a high-quality record, their success is met with expected adulation. They are currently 15-4 and have been playing high-scoring, blowout games. Because of the commitment they put into the sport, the team has been reaping the benefits.

At the beginning of the week, Jesuit rocked WT White’s evening in a 64-13 rout. Christian Allocco ’20, a guard for the Freshman team, complimented their ability to “keep the defense guessing and catch them off guard.” One can’t go wrong with a hard-hitting and fast-moving offense. However, Allocco noted that the team possesses room for improvement, saying that the team needs “to run harder in transition, and get back on defense.”

On Friday, January 13, the team took on the Berkner Rams in an exciting road game. The Rangers defeated the Rams with a final score of 59-35. When asked about the game, Christian Allocco commented “On Friday, game day was our day, and we won by a huge margin. Passing was often and swift, and thanks to selflessness with the ball, we rose to Berkner’s challenge,” reported Allocco. Of all the players consulted, a similar theme emerged, one of selflessness and cooperation. The team’s chemistry on the court works to their advantage by far, and the gel between players allows for a more productive group.

Darryl Brown ’20, a forward for the Freshman Gold team, reflected on the team’s current path in this last leg of the season. He commented that “although we’ve had our share of success, we know now is not the time to get complacent. We have to stay hungry because a season can turn around even in just the six games we have left.”

With only 6 games until playoffs, we can only eagerly await the performance of our Freshman team.
