Texas Longhorns Basketball

-

The Texas Longhorns are playing great basketball down the stretch of their season.

Since they lost to Connecticut on January 8, 2011, the Horns have won their last twelve games and beaten eleven out of twelve of their opponents by ten or more (the only exception was against Baylor and the Longhorns beat them by nine points).

Victories against Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Missouri, and Baylor gave the Horns an undefeated record in Conference play (Big 12). They are currently ranked (updated Feb. 13) number 3 in the nation, but should move up to number one or two by the end of the week. Thanks to a #1 Ohio State Buckeyes loss February 12th to the Wisconsin Badgers, Texas will likely be the nation’s new top team, having beaten the current #2 Kansas Jayhawks by thirteen on the road earlier in the season.

Sophomore Guard Jordan Hamilton and Freshman Forward Tristan Thompson led the team in points per game and rebounds per game, catapulting the team to its recent dominant streak and putting Texas in prime position to succeed come March Madness.
