Jesuit Clinches Playoff Spot with Blowout over Samuel

-

Sophomore WR Jake Oliver caught four touchdown passes and Jesuit scored 27 points in the first quarter as the Rangers defeated Samuel 44-0. Oliver, who caught seven passes for 105 yards to go with his four scores, caught three of his touchdown passes in the first half as Jesuit clinched a spot in the District 5A playoffs for 2010. Though the offense shone brightly in the victory, the defense was the talk of the night, holding Samuel to 188 total yards and shutting out the opponent for the first time this year. No player on Samuel got more than 63 total yards as Jesuit executed all defensive assignments with tremendous precision, a characteristic that has been missing for most of the year with this unit. “This was just about as perfect a win as we’ve had all year,” says Senior K Andrew Bishkin. “This is the type of win we needed to carry some momentum into the playoffs.” Jesuit’s next game will be in preparation for the playoffs as the Rangers will play Sunset in the second and final home game of the season.
