As the school year comes to an end, Jesuit tennis has worked hard to finish their season strong. Particularly, players performed at their best to win districts and go far in regionals.

Frisco Wakeland Tournament

On Friday, March 24, a group of players competed at the annual Frisco Wakeland Tournament. In the end, freshman Mathis Valenta got second place in the tournament, battling through four difficult matches, but coming up short at a 6-7, 2-6 loss in the finals.

Varsity Districts

On Monday, March 27, the Jesuit tennis team competed in the Varsity districts tournament. sophomore Connor Cole placed first in the singles tournament winning 6-2, 6-0. Also, sophomore Dillon Blanton and senior Bennet Barron placed second in the tournament losing 1-6, 4-6 in the finals. These three boys played excellent tennis and battled through two long days of matches.

Connor Cole ’25 said, “I think my experience districts was very good, and I really got to show how Jesuit has changed me and transformed me into a man for others.”

Dillon Blanton ’25 said, “Me and my partner Bennett started a bit shaky but we got our rhythm and started to work well as a team. Overall we played really well and got 2nd place.”

Bennet Barron ’23 said, “I always enjoy playing districts every year, and this year was no different. I had a great experience playing doubles with my partner Dillon Blanton, who I’d never really played with before. We were able to build some good chemistry on court and found a way to make the finals! I thought the tournament was a rewarding experience, and advancing to regionals was a great way to top off my senior year.”

JV Districts

On Monday, April 3, the Jesuit tennis team competed in the JV district tournament. Freshman Carson Voegtle placed first in the tournament and won against freshman Alec Ramon. The two battled through a 5-3, 1-4, 10-7 match where Voegtle came in victorious. Also, freshman Luke Nettune and junior Patricio Carrillo came in second in the doubles draw losing 1-4,4-1, 8-10 in the finals.

Varsity Regionals

Finally, on Tuesday, April 11, Connor Cole, Dillon Blanton, and Bennet Barron went to the Regional Tournament in McKinney. Connor Cole lost in the Semifinals 6-4, 6-0 and Dillon Blanton and Bennet Barron lost in the first round 3-6, 6-7. All three boys, while coming up short, played a great season and represented Jesuit.

Connor Cole said, “In regionals, of course there is more competition, but there was a greater chance to show how I’ve improved during my time at Jesuit. It was a great experience, and I would love to go back again next year. I made it to the semifinals but unfortunately I had to pull out.”
