Friday, May 6, 2011, marked the 9th annual Senior Family Night at Jesuit. It was a fun time for all seniors in attendance and their families and included a complimentary dinner of a barbecue sandwich and chips, live music by senior bands, and community among seniors who had just completed their final day at Jesuit.
Friday was also marked by Senior Convocation and Special Games, topped in the perfect way with the relaxing atmosphere of family night. This year was the first time for the family night to be held in the new football stadium! The food was much more accessible from the new concessions building, and the families were protected from the harsh Dallas sun underneath the new pavilion area on the southwest side of the stadium. Senior and former Student Body President Charles Rice said, “Senior Family Night was just a fun way to hang out with friends, as well as spend good time with my family.”
It was an overall successful night for Jesuit as the big crowd from the event made its way over to the playoff baseball game taking place. Jesuit won the game 7-6 on an extra-inning walk-off single by senior, Zach Reding, moving them through to the second round of the playoffs.
Senior Counselor Mr. Blackwell had this to say about the night: “I think it was a great sending off for the seniors; it culminated the day well by letting them spend this last time of community with friends, faculty, and family in the same setting while being recognized for their wonderful accomplishments of their time at Jesuit.”
