Rangers Finish Strong Before District

This weekend signified the last games before district schedule for the Rangers.

Frisco High 3/9/23:

The tournament started off with a tough game against a 10-0 Frisco team with several good players. Junior Joe Allen took the mound for the Rangers and dominated from the start. Allen held Frisco to only two hits and kept them scoreless. He struck out eleven out of twenty three batters he faced. The Rangers back him up with ten hits themselves. Sophomore Jake Fults and Freshman Taylor Haddock both had multi-hit games, both with extra base hits. The Rangers dominated in a 7-0 victory. 

Houston Memorial 3/10/23:

Day two of the tournament started off with a pitcher’s duel. Sophomore Dillon Brandt took the mound for the Rangers. Brandt only allowed two hits, one being a lead off homerun in the top of the fifth, supplying Memorial their only run. The Rangers struggled at the plate only scratching one run across in the bottom of the seventh, ending the game in a 1-1 tie. 

Plano West 3/10/23:
The Jesuit Baseball team had a great opportunity to play at Plano West in Dr. Pepper Park minor league stadium. Ranger’s ace Senior Luke Isett threw a complete game, forcing lots of weak contact, only throwing eighty five pitches. The Rangers were led by Senior Nick Barber who was three for four with two RBIs. Junior Cam Davis also was two for three supplying enough runs for the Rangers to win 7-0.

 “We were super excited going into the week knowing we got play at Dr. Pepper Ball Park on Friday night under the lights. But district play on the horizon, we know we need to lock in and fine tune the squad.”  -Jack Barr

Frisco Liberty 3/11/23:

This was another back and forth game for the Rangers. Jack Barr threw a complete game walking four and allowing five hits. The Rangers couldn’t put anything together offensively. With many baserunners the Rangers only needed a couple well timed hits but ended up falling short 2-3.

Frisco Lone Star 3/11/23:

On the last day of the tournament, the Rangers had a bullpen day. Four different Jesuit pitchers shared the mound. In combination, the Rangers gave up eight runs on seven hits. But the Rangers kept up with Lone Star offensively with Nick Barber and Cam Davis both going three for four. But with a seven run 6th inning, Lone Star took the lead and didn’t give it back, winning 7-9.   

The Rangers take on JJ Pearce at home on Tuesday the 14th to open up district play.
