The anticipation, nerves, and school pride were flowing much like they do under the typical Friday night lights, but this time it was a Saturday and a mixer instead of a football game. On Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. carrying on the annual tradition, Jesuit hosted the freshman class from both Jesuit and Ursuline. With temperatures in the low eighties and spirit wear as the recommended dress, the scene was set for an evening of fun.

Entertainment

Along the right side of the home stands stood a D.J. He played music of all types including Heartache Medication by John Pardy. There was a tremendous amount of ice-cold bottled water to quinch a thirst and a variety of snacks from Rice Crispy Treats to Doritos. While enjoying a refreshment or snack, the students could choose from a large amount of entertainment choices. Many groups were tightly huddled around a Poker table, while others enjoyed a light game of volleyball. Furthermore, freshmen played cornhole and stood in circles conversing and learning new things about one another.

Success

“It was perfect weather for an outdoor event. The energy around the yard games was very high. There was a lot of competition, and of course, the table games were very popular as usual. It was a really great event, and the Student Council did a great job hosting.” -freshmen counselor Mr. Marr.

The event had an amazing turnout and was described as a fun and enjoyable experience. One anonymous Ursuline student wrote, “The Mixer was a perfect opportunity for students to meet and make new friends. I got to socialize with peers and talk with new people.” An anonymous Jesuit student wrote “I really enjoyed being able to hang out with the freshman class from Ursuline. The Poker tables were an amazing part of the night as well.” Overall, the fall mixer was a success in many ways. The freshman classes of each school had the opportunity to meet each other, and fellow classmates were able to grow their bond through different yard and table games.
