As fall descends upon us, the crew team prepares for a new season. To kick off the new season, the crew team travelled to Oklahoma City and the Brazos River to put their skills to the test.
“I think as a team, we performed very well, it was a great way to start off the season and be able to see what we need to work on to have a great performance at our later fall regattas,” stated Sean Tehan ‘18 about the team’s showing in OKC. In their eight man race, the varsity team got first by a margin of 10 seconds over Dallas United Crew (DUC), a great accomplishment exemplifying the rigorous work the crew team puts into their craft.
The celebration was short lived however as the team soon prepared for more competition on the Brazos River.
“We bonded as a team between our races,” Ethan Bandiera ‘19 noted about the Brazos competition. Teamwork is crucial for success during a race, as everyone’s strokes have to be on a count. This bond will surely help the team in the future.
The crew team is guaranteed to face more difficult competition throughout the rest of the season, but these impressive performances prove that we can expect more success from the crew team.
