Coming off just the first loss of the season, the then 5-1 Jesuit JV Gold Basketball team reestablished a new winning streak with 3 victories in the following week. During the span from December 4th to December 10th, the Rangers powerfully won their three games, never ending a game without at least a 20 point lead over their opponent.
After the heart wrenching 55-56 loss to Plano East, the team returned to their winning ways in their next games and regained their strength by reassuringly defeating the opposition.
On December 6, JV Gold traveled to Little Elm in an attempt to bounce back and regain their confident play. The team started the week off strong, defeating Little Elm 59-39. The Junior Varsity team defeated Little Elm’s JV team, but the Varsity squad was defeated later that same night.
After the promising victory, Jesuit took on fellow private school St. Marks in a Friday afternoon showdown. The Rangers overpowered the Lions, again winning with a score of 59-39. The team shone both on offense and on defense, holding the opposing team to only 39 points, continuing their soon to be 3 game winning streak in the week of December 4th.
Finally, the blue and gold continued their winning week with a victory over the Lincoln High School Tigers, defeating the Tigers with a final score of 62-31. Christopher Horton ’18 noted that he is “very proud of how the team is doing. It’s a young team and it looks very promising for the rest of the season as well as for the next few years.”
After the week of victories, Jesuit improved its record to 8-1 after December 10th. They went on to win a thriller against Mansfield 53-52 the following week before falling to Coppell. After winning their 3 games in the Allen Junior Varsity tournament and defeating J.J. Pearce over Christmas break, Jesuit looks to improve upon their season and add more wins to their 14-2 record.
