Players’ Thoughts

I asked the players what they thought of the season and this is what they said:

“As someone who joined the season a week before I do not think it could have gone any better. Although our season was anything but perfect, we had fun doing it. How everyone came together throughout the season was special. This group improved drastically from the first practice, all the way until our last game where we tied for third in state. Getting hype with them in our state tournament run left some memories for me and hopefully the whole team. I want to especially thank them for being so welcoming and encouraging.” -Diego Ortiz-Segura ’24

“After losing solid core seniors from last year’s team, we all knew it would be tougher to meet high expectations. Despite this challenge, with the help of our brand new head coach, we persevered and secured third place at the high school boys volleyball state tournament. I think our new coach pushed each returning player to improve their skills, and motivated each new player to find their love for volleyball. Everyone improved in so many different ways and I think everyone on the team was proud of our growth together. I feel like everyone opened up this year to each other personally, allowing for a stronger team chemistry.” -Spencer Jewesson ’24

“It was a great season with a new coach and a supporting JV. Coach Wilson really strives to make us the best player we can be. The seniors really worked hard to make this team whole and we will really miss them.” -Zach Dsouza ’25

“I think the season went really well, even though at the start our cohesion was off, but once we got into the groove we won most of our games. I’d say our new coach is great, I have seen improvement from all the players. Sadly we did lose a few games, but we did our best.” -Carson Monnot ’25

Although the Rangers did not win the championship this season, this year was still a success. They made it all the way to the state semifinals before an heartbreaking loss to the eventual season champions. They had three players selected for postseason awards, two of which will return next year. With Jewesson and Pack returning, along with many more Rangers hoping to be in the spotlight, the future looks bright for Jesuit volleyball! Congratulations Rangers on a great season!
