“Football is like life – it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority” – Vince Lombardi.
The Jesuit JV Football team demonstrated these attributes to be true as they continued their win streak this season, beating Skyline 21-13. Despite beginning the season slow, losing their first couple games, they have shot back and aren’t slowing down.
Coach Leal, the head JV Football coach, said in regard to the team’s recent success, “We have really hit our stride, and with the way our offense and defense have been working together, I see us continuing our win streak for a while.”
Clearly, his trust in the JV team is not misplaced as they have completely dominated in their last two games. When asked what went well, Leal commented, “ All throughout the game even when we had trouble shutting down their run game we kept our heads up and worked harder. We came out a little slow but stayed strong, and persevered. I was really impressed with our success in the second half, we shut down their runs and had good coverage of their receivers. Skyline is a good team and has a good program, so I’m glad we were able to pull out that 21-13 win.”
It wasn’t only Coach Leal who thought the game was a success, but Gus Walker 18’ as well; “These past couple games have been great, we have done a good job shutting down their defense and putting up points. In our game against Skyline, we worked together as a team really well and I was really impressed with how we did.”
Overall, it was a fantastic performance by the Jesuit JV Football team, and the whole Jesuit community looks forward to their upcoming wins.
