On Tuesday, August 29, Jesuit Dallas Hockey played Southlake Carroll in preparation for the 2023-2024 season. A hard-fought game concluded with a resounding 5-1 victory for Jesuit Dallas, exhibiting their teamwork and solid ability to score goals. One reason for the exciting win may have been the team’s training camp, hosted the weekend of August 11-13. The Rangers got after it on the ice and in the weight room during the training camp.

The Exhibition Game
1st Period
The Rangers started out strong with a nice goal from Tyler Woods ’25 on an assist by captain Jack Bowdich ’24. Tyler, who switched from defenseman to forward last year, has lately been excelling in his position and scoring goals, especially in the most recent summer league. Continuing to dominate the game, Jesuit Dallas scored two more goals in the 1st period, one from Allen Zheng ’26 on an assist from Thomas Fino ’25, and the other from Rex Garrick ’26 on assists from Liam Placke ’24 and Everett Sahadevan ’25.
Rex Garrick ’26 commented on the team’s initial success in this game, encouraging his teammates to continue the hard work throughout the game and the season.

2nd Period
The two teams continued to battle in an extremely close 2nd period. No goals were scored, but the Rangers had two penalties. One penalty was called on Jack Reynolds ’25 for cross-checking, and the other for Thomas Fino ’25 for interference (both 2-minute minor penalties). The Rangers had a successful penalty kill with no goals and continued to work hard into the exciting 3rd period.
3rd Period
Beginning of the third period, Southlake Carroll rallied and scored there first and only goal of the night. But, the ranger quickly came back with McClain Croskey ’25, scoring the first Jesuit goal of the period on a sweet rebound from Whit Taylor ’24 and an incredible cross-ice pass from Brandon Peppard ’25. Jesuit finished the game off with a goal from captain Conor Parro ’25, with assists from Noah Pinkall ’24 and Thomas Fino ’25.

The Rangers worked hard, executing on scoring chances and dominating the defensive zone to secure the win. They look forward to the opportunities in the future, including the AT&T Metroplex High School Hockey League Leveling Tournament and the out-of-town tournaments already scheduled for the year.
