On May 19, 2023, the Jesuit Board of Trustees and The Jesuit Foundation hosted their annual faculty and staff banquet. Hosted at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, a number of teachers and coaches were presented Excellence in Education Awards for their distinctive contributions to students’ knowledge and the community as a whole.
“In my opinion, faculty/staff banquet is a wonderful opportunity for us teachers to come and reflect on the work we’ve done this year and celebrate one another. Most importantly, the event reminds that our institution comprises of big-hearted people doing big-hearted work. So, it was nice to gather and commemorate individuals who are really helping our young men to become Men for and with Others.” – Mr. Goll
Michael Grimshaw Family Award
The Michael Grimshaw Family Award seeks an educator who provides conditions and opportunities for continual interplay of experience, reflection, and action. This recipient does so by guiding inquiry that deepens informed actions, fostering the well-being of community members, and developing life-long learners.
This year’s Michael Grimshaw Family Award recipient is Mrs. Ying Lu.

Rev. Robert Tynan, SJ Award
The Rev. Robert Tynan, S.J. Award is presented to a faculty member who actively builds community while inspiring others to seek the greater good for all. This recipient partners with colleagues and parents to achieve the school’s educational mission.
This year’s Rev. Robert Tynan, SJ Award recipient is Mr. Sean McMullen.
Cecil Green Award
The Cecil Green Award celebrates an educator who discerns ways of teaching and learning consistent with Ignatian pedagogy. This colleague strives to be critically reflective by engaging in ongoing development, soliciting feedback, and evaluating programs in light of the overall mission.
This year’s Cecil Green Award recipient is Mrs. Lynn Bolton.
“It was very exciting and a great honor to receive the Cecil Green award for innovative Ignatian teaching. I enjoy teaching at Jesuit and the challenges of working with all kinds of students with unique interests and talents. In my opinion, Jesuit creates an environment where teachers are encouraged to create, explore, guide, and lead students in a journey of discovery. For me, teaching is creating, connecting, and engaging with students and after many years I have never tired of this. Every time I stepped into a more administrative position, I missed teaching so much that I came back. Overall, I am honored to have received this award that recognizes the importance of the classroom and its limitless capacity for growing men for others.” – Mrs. Bolton
Rev. Joseph Mulhern, SJ Award
The Rev. Joseph Mulhern, S.J. Award honors a member of the staff for his or her availability and dedication to the mission of Jesuit education. This award is funded by the Don Hanratty Family.

Jeremiah E. Lenihan Family Faculty Award
The Jeremiah E. Lenihan Family Faculty Award recognizes the faculty member who embodies cura personalis, care for the individual. This recipient demonstrates the ability and willingness to listen, treats students and colleagues with empathy, and seeks their well-rounded growth as men and women for others.
This year’s Jeremiah E. Lenihan Family Faculty Award recipient is Mr. Jonathan Segal.
Elaine Henrion Award
The Elaine Henrion Award is presented to a colleague who animates the Ignatian vision by valuing our work as a vocation. The recipient works to promote a faith that does justice by responding to Christ’s call and engaging in ongoing learning of Ignatian spirituality and pedagogy.
This year’s Elaine Henrion Award recipient is Mr. Kenneth Gan.
“I wasn’t expecting to receive the award. When my name was called, all I can think of is just gratitude and appreciation for all those who have encouraged and supported me at Jesuit Dallas. As a theology teacher, I’m looking forward to what more we can do further deepen our faith and spirituality. Being part of campus ministry, I’m also excited for making more connections with theology as well.” – Mr. Gan
Peter Faber, SJ Award
The Peter Faber, S.J. Award recognizes an individual whom students see as personifying the Jesuit mission. The recipient embodies excellence in terms of overall dedication and service. This award is funded by the Dr. and Mrs. J.D. O’Brien Endowment.
This year’s Peter Faber, SJ Award recipient is Mr. Brian Goll.

Francis Xavier, SJ Award
The Francis Xavier, S.J. Award celebrates a coach whom students have identified as someone who inspires them. This recipient strives to model God’s love and infuse Ignatian values in activities outside the classroom while considering the best interest of students.
This year’s Francis Xavier, SJ Award recipient is Coach Michael Grimes.
Hal F. Tehan Family Award
The Hal F. Tehan Family Award is presented to a faculty member who, according to their peers, most embodies the Profile of the Ignatian Educator.
