When you think the Dallas Cowboys will be different this year they somehow figure out a way to show you they are the same old Cowboys as always. This year especially had people hyped up for the Cowboys. Only after two weeks of football, after the Cowboys beat up two of the NFL’s most pathetic teams, did the whole fan base hype them as the best team in the NFL.”They are going to win the Superbowl,” is all I heard from the media and the radical Cowboy fans, they all fuel the fire for this much-unwarranted hype.

I am guilty of falling prey to this hype trap for the Cowboys. Maybe it was wishful thinking or just me being delusional. Still, this might be their year for them to do something this year. They finally put it all together after all these years. Our defense was the best it had been in decades and our offense looked good as well. Dak is no longer throwing interceptions. Then we come to week three against the Arizona Cardinals, the worst team in the NFL. In previous years, the Cowboys would lose this sort of game due to their hybris, but no, this team was different. We weren’t going to drop this game. What happened in this game is one of the most pathetic games I have ever seen. The Cardinals did not just beat them; they destroyed them.

With a final game score of 16-28, the Cardinals, from start to finish, had their way with the Cowboys. The score might not seem like a game where some team was destroyed. Still, when you put in the fact that the Cowboys only scored one touchdown and never even held the lead or tied it at any point of the game, the scoop is truly revealed. The offense throughout the game missed opportunity after opportunity to capitalize on the drive. It just settled to go for the field goal. The defense kept choking on third down or giving up big plays during critical moments. The Cowboys also seemed to revert to old ways and kept getting penalty after penalty.

Sure, we can make the excuse on why the Cowboys sucks this game. They had a lot of injuries on the O-line, Trevon Diggs is out, or some other thing, but the fact of the matter is that we should have won easily, but they didn’t. The Cowboys looked completely out of sync, like they weren’t trying or didn’t care, and this is where the problem lies. They think too highly of themself. The Cowboys, from the fans to the team, will get this massive ego whenever they win a bunch of games and think they are the best. Then something like this will happen where they think they are the real deal, and the other team is some snub team then gets destroyed by them, or they will choke in the playoffs like always.

It’s almost a tradition for the Cowboys to lose against some bad or average team they should have won. It’s a trap game, and every year, they lose these games, and every year, they disappoint or implode like always. This isn’t the Cowboy’s year; this isn’t the year that they will break all those much-warranted stereotypes about them or make the Super Bowl. This is the same old Cowboys that we are used to watching in the last twenty-something years.

Looking into the future, the Cowboys will start to play some real teams. Teams such as the 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles will be a test for the Cowboys. It will expose them in many ways if they don’t play up to there level. These upcoming games will be their make-or-break moment in the season. It will define the mindset going into the rest of the season.

I want to believe in the Cowboys. I want them to get past the divisional round of the playoffs finally. After all these years of disappointment, I know better than to hype up the Dallas Cowboys. My final prediction is that the Dallas Cowboys will end with a winning record. Maybe something like 12-5, and they will get to the playoffs. They will not get past the divisional round as usual. Heck, they may not even get past the wildcard round. All that I know for sure is that this is going to be one long year as a Cowboy fan.
