The first Freshman football game of the year was truly a knockout. Many things were in the air going into the game. We didn’t know how our new freshman would do, but luckily, they made a fantastic first impression at this game. Jesuit absolutely dominated Arlington with a score of 41-0!
The game took place on August 28th, and Jesuit had complete control over it. In the beginning, Jesuit set the standard quickly, and within minutes easily took the lead. This appeared to shake Arlington, as they lost 20 yards afterward.
The large majority of the game consisted of Jesuit taking the ball up after a strong defensive possession, helping Jesuit really take the lead. The Jesuit defense that was showed off was also incredibly strong. Both of these aspects sealed the deal for Jesuit.
The game ended up being a total victory for Jesuit. More high-quality games should be expected throughout the seasons, and we are all excited to see what comes out of this team.
On another note, the JV team started off with a rough 7-14 loss to Arlington, in a closely contested game. It was very low scoring, with neither team giving up much ground, but in the end Arlington was able to pull away and seal the victory, giving Jesuit their first loss of the year.
Despite the loss, the JV had a good defensive showing, holding Arlington to just 14 points. It’s always unfortunate to start the season off on a loss, but there is much to look forward to for the JV team in the future.
GO RANGERS!!
