Last week, anxious tech enthusiasts piled into the first in-person Apple keynote since 2019, hoping to hear all about the influential company’s new line of releases heading into the last quarter of 2022. Apple typically produces keynote presentations three to four times a year to introduce new products, such as updated iPhones, Macs, Watches, and even brand new devices. After countless rumors and much speculation, Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, took center stage in the company’s third keynote of the year to reveal the much-anticipated announcements.

Apple began the presentation by introducing the brand new Apple Watch Series 8. The Apple Watch has made a widespread impact across the market, and this new generation looks like the sales can only increase. The new and improved device boasts a brand new temperature sensor, crash-detection capabilities, and a longer battery life than its predecessor. This device will hit the shelves starting at $399, as Apple maintains the price for their newest Watches. Adding to the Apple Watch lineup, the keynote introduced a new Apple Watch SE, a more affordable option for interested consumers. Although the SE is made with the same chip as the brand new “Series 8,” the new watch will be released with an impressive $249 price tag. However, with a lower price, Apple sacrifices features like an always-on display and the brand-new temperature sensor. Nevertheless, this budget-friendly alternative is still a great device within the smartwatch market. To finalize the new Apple Watch lineup, Apple is releasing a brand new Apple Watch Ultra. This is the first of its kind, which has been specialized for hardcore athletes rather than an average consumer. It’s made with a titanium case which provides for extensive durability and it boasts a 49 mm screen compared to the previous maximum screen size of 44 mm.                                              Credit to apple.com for the photo

Most impressively, it has a whopping battery life of sixty hours compared to thirty-six hours for previous models. Apple priced the watch at $799 which may be a tough buy for some, however, the watch can clearly provide incomparable durability.

Next, Apple moved on to the long-awaited announcement of a new generation of AirPod Pros. AirPod Pros have differentiated themselves from typical AirPods with their unparalleled noise cancellation abilities. The first generation of these truly wireless headphones were originally released in October of 2019, so they have been clearly overdue for an update. The new generation is coming with a new H2 chip and two more hours of battery life compared to its predecessor. Also, Apple has created a brand new speaker for the AirPods case to make the earbuds easier to find when users inevitably lose them.

Finally, Apple introduced a brand new lineup of its most game-changing device to the world: the iPhone 14.

As usual, Apple has released three different editions of the device: the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. All of the aforementioned devices will come at different prices, providing consumers with many different options. The updated devices will come with many of the general updates any new phone would come with: an improved camera enhanced chips and longer battery life. However, Apple has included some curveballs to make these products stand out. First, they introduced a brand new crash detection feature that will alert emergency services if the phone has detected a crash and the user is unresponsive. Next, they presented another potentially life-saving feature in the form of an emergency service powered by satellite. This feature is intended for when an iPhone user has no cell service in an emergency situation, providing them the ability to contact for help through satellite. Although in today’s modern society this may not be used often, it can definitely save lives in the rare situation where a user is stranded in an untouched environment. Finally, the most revolutionary feature introduced was the eSIM card or a digital SIM card. This feature will only initially be available in the United States, however, this will eliminate the need for swapping physical cards into new phones and provide the ability to have multiple cell plans on one device.

All these items will be on the shelves later this month, which will surely provide a fruitful year for Apple.
