For the class of 2020, it has obviously been a difficult year. Their favorite events, final memories of their time in high school, such as prom and other senior rituals, are being cancelled. Furthermore, the uncertainty of this time is so massive that schools cannot postpone events, and are forced to cancel events until a later time. It can be months or years, but no one really knows.

However, for seniors this year, there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Via Twitter, Jesuit Dallas announced that graduation will occur at the newly improved Ford Center at the Star on August 3rd at 7 PM. Additionally, they plan on integrating the Senior Convocation into this year’s ceremony since it was unfortunately cancelled. The school still indicates the need for social distancing, and advises that for parents to take into consideration when purchasing tickets.

In an official statement, President Mike Earsing remarked on this idea, “We are still uncertain how many tickets will be available for graduation, and that recommended social distance guidelines may impact the number of family and guests permitted to attend. Please be sure that we understand how meaningful this day is for parents, siblings, grandparents, and extended family, and will consider all available options that prioritize the safety of your sons. Once again, we plan on offering a live video stream and will share that information as we get closer to graduation.”
