\"\"<\/a>\u201cA.M.D.G. On this day, the 30th day of August in the year of our Lord 1942, The Jesuit High School of Dallas, under the patronage of St. Aloysius was solemnly dedicated by the Most Reverend Bishop Joseph P. Lynch at 10:30 a.m. At 11:00 a.m. Mass coram Episcopo [in the presence of the Bishop] was celebrated by Very Reverend Father Provincial, Thomas J. Shields, S.J. in the presence of the Rector Fr. Joseph C. Mulhern, S. J. and Faculty of Jesuit High School, visiting Clergy and friends of the laity. An eloquent sermon was preached by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Nold. After the sermon Bishop Lynch made an address of welcome to the Jesuit Fathers. At 1.p.m. a banquet was served in the refectory. Present at the banquet were the Most Reverend Bishop Lynch, Msgr. Nold, twenty six priests of the Diocese of Dallas, Very Reverend Father Provincial, Thomas J. Shields, S.J., and the Consultors of the Province, and the Faculty of Jesuit High of Dallas. In the speeches at the end of the banquet the Most Reverend Bishop and Pastors of parishes in and near Dallas glowingly expressed their congratulations, good wishes, and offers of whole-hearted cooperation. Rev. Fr. Rector, Fr. Joseph C. Mulhern, S.J. eloquently thanked the Bishop and the priests, and on the part of the Jesuit Fathers, assured the clergy of the full cooperation of the Jesuit Fathers. A public reception was held from 3 to 6 p.m. About three thousand people visited us this afternoon and were well impressed by the place. About fifty ladies acted as a reception committee. With God’s blessing on the new school and the splendid cooperation of Bishop, Clergy and People, Jesuit High School of Dallas made a most auspicious beginning which we pray God may presage many years of glorious work unto the greater glory of God.<\/p>\n

Therefore, as Provincial of the New Orleans Province of the Society of Jesus, and using the power given to me by the Holy See, through the Decree of the Holy Congregation of Religious, under the date of August 1, 1941, Decree No. 334\/41, and communicated by our Vicar General, V.R. Fr. Mauritius Schurmans, S.J., on August 8, 1941, and with the permission of our Very Reverend Father General, Wlodimir Ledochowski, S.J. granted on July 30, 1941, I declare the Jesuit High School of Dallas a canonically erected house of the Society of Jesus with all the rights, duties, privileges, and obligations pertaining to such houses. In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost–<\/p>\n

I declare in accord with Canon Law and our institute that the entire first and second floor levels of the building to the fire wall (which has a door marked “Private”), with the exception of the entrance hall and parlor on the first floor level, and the stair well, are within Canonical Cloister or enclosure.<\/p>\n
