Pets, what could we do without them? They are our loyal companions. They are with us when we are happy. They are with us when we are
sad. Nothing can break the bond between a human and his pet.
Pets are some of the things which bring joy and happiness to Jesuit faculty itself. Each and every pet is unique in its own way, and through each pet’s uniqueness, an owner becomes more attached to their pet because of the sentimentality each pet brings to them.
Some pets serve Jesuit’s motto of being a man for others.
“Audi is a certified therapy dog” stated Mrs. Cheryl Woolnough. “He can bring you a tissue if you sneeze, balance a cookie on his nose, play basketball, speak, weave through my legs, pick up things and hand them to you, and bow.”
Some pets have those maudlin qualities which bring laughter and joy to their owners.
“Eating, sleeping, and pooping” are the qualities which describe Mr. Corey Marr’s Chihuahua.
Mrs. Tiffany Holmes had to say that her Yorkshire Terriers love “cuddling, stealing toys, and trading toys for food.”
Mr. and Mrs. Mattacchione’s dog, Ruckins, “howls to Jingle Bells and loves to clean spilled food off floor from [our] children. You can place a milk bone on her nose and she will wait to throw it up and catch it in her mouth on your command.”
Mr. Richard’s Perry’s Chinese Crested Dog named Enzo could maybe one day be a circus performer. “Enzo likes to show and perform circus tricks.”
One could even have a chat with Mr. Parker Hornsby’s cat, Mara, who “will converse with you”.
Mr. Matt DuRoss’s cat, Ella, “acts like a dog and comes when called”. Who knew that even though cats and dogs hate each other, there was a cat that would act like a dog?
Some pets are just able to have a loving relationship with their owner.
Shockingly, Mrs. Julie Carver, her family, and her three dogs, Rex, Ace, and Nike, two cats, Artemis, and Sirus, two amphibians and reptiles, Slimy, Tiny Tim, and Samson, and bird, Tiger, have the “ability to live together harmoniously”.
Through all of the various qualities of a pet, one is able to appreciate their pet’s presence and able to develop a stronger and more loving relationship, than with just any other animal. Even though pets are not human, they share human qualities which allow them to appeal to their owners. Pets, just like children, give us something to love and appreciate as well as fond and happy memories with which we can hold onto for the rest of our lives.
